Born in Tisoi di Belluno (north Italy) this forty-five years old artist graduated at the Ortisei Art Institute of Val Gardena (so as Winkler, Murer, Conta, Adolf Vallazza and various outstanding artists from the Italian Alps) and then, at the Art Academy "MAGISTERO DI PORTA ROMANA" in Firenze.Carying on with his activities of painter, sculptor and graphic, he settled down in San Giacomo di Laives, near Bolzano, (north Italy) where he has a studio in Vicolo Della Pesa.

Mainly introverted (as his painting shows immediately) Archis in a contradictory and surprising way involves himself a lot in cultural exhibitions and events besides the artist, we meet an anxious man, often a on the road, travelling with his Camper and his beloved dog.

A way of attraction-disgust for life (and also maybe for art) harasses him.
He has often said "no way that you can trust what is desirable, it would be just like acclaiming what is disgusting".His painting is allways impressed of an outstanding technical talent, searching anxiously for great spaces that sometimes can expend on wall painting, is an anxious and disquieting artwork. We can see Dürer, Cranach, Bruegel, and generally speaking north countries painting's influence, and also a touch of expressionism and surrealism.

This is "dark side" painting, gothic, at times almost colourless using mainly brown and acid-green, and darkness….in the meantime, we can get the idea of an "Etruscan" taste and a few remembers of 1900's monumentalism. In this processing, characters are coming into view from a world of darkness, searching for a rise of light. They are coming into view from a emotional "psychological magma" conglomerating and spooling out from imagination on the threshold of anguish and delirium.

A painting quite hard to "decode" is Pietro Archis's because at moments it gets full of gloomy symbols while at other moments it seems to get rid of an almost panical sensuality.
